邁阿密熱火將在23日對洛杉磯湖人之役退休「大歐」Shaquille O'Neal的32號球衣，當年一手操盤交易的球團總裁「油頭」Pat Riley當然是好話說盡。
「他改變了我們球隊的方向。」Riley說：「是他帶領我們登上頂峰，他值得這分榮耀，他的球衣值得被高掛在球場上空。」
O’Neal在2004年被湖人交易到熱火，儘管已經過了巔峰，他的身材優勢與策應能力依舊能幫助初出茅廬的「閃電俠」Dwyane Wade成長，並在2006年奪得隊史第一冠。
「這不只是我們的敬意，而是因為他真的為我們做了很多。」Riley說。
